Triptyque Films is a documentary films production company. It was founded by three directors and producers. We are trying to create original and striking films about reality. Our projects reflect the variety of our directors' tastes. From innovative to more classical films.

Our only standard : we and our authors must have a real artistic approach : whether it is discreet or visible, classic or experimental, the mise-en-scene (i.e. the wish for cinema) is primary.

Triptyque Films was born in 2010. We already have eight movies in our catalogue. Five new projects are already in preparation or in post-production.

Julien Meunier

Julien Meunier was born in 1978. He is a cartoonist and documentary film director.

Living in Paris, Julien Meunier co-directed a first documentary film with Dorine Brun, La Cause et l'usage (52 minutes, production Independencia), taking place in Corbeil-Essones during the controversial municipal elections in 2009.
In 2010, Hijacking the box, co-directed with Guillaume Massart and produced by Triptyque, is his second movie.

Christophe Bisson

Christophe Bisson is 42. A former student in philosophy, he then became a visual artist and videast. He worked a lot on the representation of catastrophies such as the Shoah or Tchernobyl.

In 2007, with a director from New York, Maryann De Leo, he directs White Horse, a documentary film shown in various international festivals. Nominated for a Golden Bear at the Berlinale, it was broadcast on the prestigious American network HBO.

Since then, Christophe Bisson is concentrating on his work as a director. On one hand, a cycle on films based upon literary texts (Isaïe, Feast of Crispian) ; on the other, films that question norms and pathologies (Road Movie, A Metamorphosis). His films are broadcast on television (HBO, Canal +) and in prestigious French and international festivals, such as the Viennale, the Cinéma du Reel in Paris, the FID Marseilles...

Total laryngectomy, a mutilation that affects the face and the voice, can be lived as a profound metamorphosis. Joël Perrotte undertook that surgery in 2007.

After becoming mute, his first reaction was to retreat from the outside world, in the basement of his home. Thanks to his wife's support, he surfaced back, and found the strength to learn a new voice and become part of the society.

The film will be the story of this extraordinary metamorphosis.

Two filmmakers go and make a documentary film on the strange island of Physiopolis, hidden behind a turn of the Seine river.
The inhabitants, who try to keep the place secret, tell them about the forbidden part of the island. The ruins of an Art Deco swimming pool are overrun by plants and haunted by ghosts...

Between abandoned bungalows and disused corridors, ferry crossings and night walks, holiday stories and ghostly silences, the filmmakers go deeper and deeper into the mysteries of Physiopolis.

Adrien Mitterrand

Adrien Mitterrand's first shorts were genre movies, made with a shoestring. An explorer, he started with fantastic films (Prysm, 2005), sci-fi movies (Sun Valley, 2008) and horror flicks (Habité, 2009).

Since he began working with Guillaume Massart on Passwonder and on There Be No Dragons, he found in documentary films a new way of expression, without forgetting his first flings. Fiction, and above all fantasy, horror or sci-fi, is still at the core of his work.
Physiopolis IV, his new project co-directed with Guillaume Massart, is going to prove it.

Derelict imperial garden, emptiness, idle Chinese tourists : the place is a pretext for a fantasy fiction, where the Chinagora is mistaken for Hell.

Tympanistan

Simon Cacheux, François Clos, Thibault Lefranc, Julie Roué and Grégoire Vallette : Tympanistan is made of five sound designers / musicians. All of them used to work in music, TV, cinema and contemporary art.

They propose a unique way of thinking movie soundtracks : music, sound editing and sound design are closely linked, in a search for harmony and sense. Thanks to their complementary experiences, they can adapt to every kind of film.

As they previously worked with Guillaume Massart on his documentary film There be no Dragons, Tympanistan happily joined the Triptyque Films adventure.

A visitor from the future hollows the remains of our modern society, just like an archeologist would do in Pompeii.

Pompeii (a New Collection) is one of the 45 fragments of the collective film OUTRAGE&REBELLION, which gathered famous artists (Jean-Marie Straub, Philippe Garrel, Pierre Léon, Ange Leccia, Jacques Perconte...), in order to react with images to violent events in Montreuil, in July 2009, in which a young filmmaker, Joachim Gatti, received a flashball from French police and lost his eye.

Guillaume Massart

Born in 1983 in the French Ardennes, Guillaume Massart directs and produces documentary films.

His first film, Passwonder (26 minutes, 2009, AMIP), was presented at the FID Marseilles in 2009, and was broadcast on the french TV channel CinéCinéma Culte.

There be no Dragons (45 minutes, 2009, Black Bird), his second film, was shown at Cinéma du Réel 2010, in Paris. It was edited in DVD by Docnet.

Pompeii (a New Collection) (6 minutes, 2009, production Triptyque Films), his third short, was shown at the Films Motions Festival in Zagreb (2009), at Bobines Sociales 2010 (Paris) and at Hors-Cases 2010 (Aix-en-Provence).

He just finished a new short, At Dusk (11 minutes, 2010, production Triptyque Films).

With Thomas Jenkoe and Charles H. Drouot, he created Triptyque Films in 2010. He now splits his time between his production activites for Triptyque and his new films as a director: Hijacking the box, with Julien Meunier, and Physiopolis IV, with Adrien Mitterrand.

Jacques Perconte

Born in 1974 in Grenoble, Jacques Perconte now lives and works in Paris. He is well-known as one of the pioneers of internet art. He is among the first artists to have worked on compression codecs.

Jacques made his debuts with internet and video art. His first films date back from 1995 and his first internet artworks from 1996. The website technart.net is the core of his work, showcasing all his activities (notes, articles, performances... the web is endless).

He frequently works with other artists. Among them : Michel Herreria (painter), Didier Arnaudet (poet), Marc Em (musician), Hugo Verlinde (filmmaker)…

Even though his works become less and less theoretical, the relation between form and substance remains crucial. Jacques Perconte works on the forms of fiction on various medias as well as a formal research, focused on the body and the landscape.

Jacques Perconte knows every secret of his technology, which serves him when dealing with frame and color. He tries to transform digital technology into a new media, which can be esthetically as rich as any other classical art.

Jacques Perconte is now preparing his new video, Impressions, produced by Triptyque Films, in which he follows French Impressionnists' trail in Normandy.

As nothing in the machine is alien to Jacques Perconte, he knows how to push it beyond its limits, how to think and create with its flaws. After him, the digital machinery is not faithful to the world because it can record its apparence, but because it can perceive its vibrations (in particular its chromatic ones), which are not mimetic, but analogous to the vibrations of reality. After more than twenty films and many monographic exhibitions, he still declares : "I don't search, I venture !"

In Leon Blum primary school, nearly all the children come from the gipsy community, which lives nearby.

During few months, the camera comes to these kids and lets them slowly define who they are, between the rules of school and the cultural laws of the gipsy community.

This is a video diary, shot between Paris, Berlin, Montreal and New York. When I'll Get Older, I'll be a Football player tells the story of a young woman, trying to rebuild herself after two years of turmoil, a camera in the hand.

Two years during which all the men of her live are present : parents, friends, lovers.

A few men, plus a woman who disappears, on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean : Britney Spears. Yes. Britney Spears.

The film is being edited and is looking for funding.

Chaâbi, the Land of Inner Music

Charles H. Drouot

Trying his hand at everything, Charles H. Drouot spent a few years directing short fictions and giving advice all around him, as an assistant director, script-doctor, editor or even color-corrector. In 2010, he decides to become a producer. Hence the creation of Triptyque Films with Guillaume Massart et Thomas Jenkoe.

His first documentary film, A Doc about Dad (58 minutes, 2009, Filmover Productions), was shown in Dallas and Paris. He is now interested in hybrid forms, between documentary, fiction and essay.

The core of his work is about langage : the voice and the words of those he films, but also his own voice. According to him, art is a voice, and he loves juggling between langages et accents , but also between the arts (cinema, litterature, music).

He is the manager of Triptyque Films.

Diane Sara

Laurine Estrade

Laurine Estrade started as a scenarist along with director Guillaume Massart for Passwonder (26 min). She worked on the scenario and the editing of his next film : There Be No Dragons, a 45 minutes documentary film shot in French Ardennes, and shown at the prestigious Cinéma du Réel Festival 2010.

She also writes scripts for fictions, including the short Branchés (Best script award at Festival de Saint Maur 2009) and Demeure (Claude Nougaro writing award 2009).

She made her debuts as a documentary director with the short film Introduire carte ou faire numéro libre.

She is now preparing A Child in a Tree with Triptyque Films.

Thomas Jenkoe

Thomas Jenkoe was made for cinema. Actor, script-writer, director, he wrote Passwonder alongside with director Guillaume Massart and Laurine Estrade, his first incursion into documentary cinema.

After this happy experience, he made corporate films, as a production manager, assistant director, script doctor and even director. The films are no more interesting than the subjects themselves : banking products, cell phones, insurance offers or clothing.

Thomas, soon realising that the time flows by and that life is short, took a step back and, with Guillaume Massart and Charles H. Drouot, founded Triptyque Films.

He has two projects inside Triptyque : Chaâbi, between Algiers and Paris, as well as an insomniac film, Maàlich...

A few miles from Ajaccio, Corsica, burnt land is buckling under the weight of its colors.

The ground is falling apart, realeasing pictural energies that take over the sky.

I'm staring at the vanishing skyline.

And the train keeps on rolling...

In Ajaccio, when waking up in the middle of the night, some people thought their house was on fire... In August 2009, I travelled by train through these Corsican lands burnt by summer fires.

The landscape will be different during many years. I filmed the devastation.

Alfortville, between the Seine and the Marne rivers. Hidden in the shadows of the Chinagora, a vast and decaying hotel, people come together.

They may be employees of the hotel, tourists, homeless people, or mere inhabitants of the neighborhood, like me. They should sleep, but they cannot.

This film is going to be a poem about our Night, whether it is outside or inside us.
Shall we ever see a new dawn rise again ?

A semi-closed mouth on the Seine river, fat lips one would like to kiss and burn. And the warmness that would follow this contact, the knocking of the teeth, the tongues that would roll and foam and die on the beach of the squab. The salted caress. The silk, blackened by the sun, mixed with the milky whiteness of that empty love. The intertwining fluids as the Moon is dying, as Dawn is still unborn - that Dawn with broken eyes, swollen eyelids, that minor mode Dawn, stricken with spasms, my cervicals on the worn-out leather of the armchairs, that smooth, lifeless Dawn that finds you asleep.

End of the day, the fumes of the purgatory, the yellowish lights of factories, like lighthouses from Hell, a whore - her slack boobs lit by cigarettes, the brackish Seine nearby, the flapping metal like bony chains : welcome to the Chinagora !

Twenty comic books creators are gathered for the Pierre Feuille Ciseaux residence, in which they have to comply to precise narrative and graphic constraints, in order to reveal the diversity and the potentials of the comic langage.

Filmed at work, they show artistic creation in progress: a mix between care and sorcery, constraints and freedom, technique and magic.

Along the shores of Normandy, on the track of the Impressionist painters, something’s happening: the colors are crashing against the screen...

Impressions, my new project, is dealing with the images and their transformation. As my work was often compared to the French Impressionist movement, I decided to follow their traces in Normandy. Filming on the same spots where Monet or Corot used to paint, I will create a kind of Impressionism 2.0. I will mix digital art, landscape documentary and the still vivid theories of Impressionists painters about light and colors.

I will film these “touristic” landscapes of French Normandy, beaten up by elements (the wind, the sun and the waves) and filled with animals (the cows and the birds). Will the landscapes be different from the ones painted in the XIXth century ?
